Swimming Pool Covers
There are 4 main types of pool covers:
1. Leaf Pool Covers - These covers are made of netting that will keep large debris from getting into the pool water - it is mainly used in conjunction with a winter cover but can also be used on its own. The Leaf cover is affixed to the pool in the same manner as the Winter Covers as listed below - either Waterbags or a Winch System.
2. Winter Pool Covers - Winter covers are made of a mesh weave and keep the pool cleaner while it is not in use in the off season. There are many fabric choices available with various warranties. Pool Winter covers are usually put into place after protecting your pool using a pool winterizing kit.
3. Safety Pool Covers - Safety Covers offer the same function as the Winter covers but they also add a layer of protection to your pool - They are strong enough for an adult to walk across. They can help prevent accidental drowning and offer protection against unauthorized use of your swimming pool.
- Mesh Safety Covers - Mesh safety covers prevent debris from entering the swimming pool but they do allow for water to flow through. Snow collects on top of this type of cover, when it melts the water will filter through into the pool.
- Solid Safety Covers - Solid safety covers do not allow water to flow through into the pool. When rain collects on them or snow and it melts, the water is pumped away with a pool cover pump.
4. Solar Pool Covers - These pool blankets are designed to collect heat generated by the sun to warm your pool and to trap existing heat within your pool from escaping. They help maintain a higher pool tempterature without a pool heater but are often used in conjunction with pool heating systems to maintain heat between heatings and thus greatly improve the energy efficiency of your pool heating system by allowing it to be run less frequently and for shorter durations. Solar Pool Covers are conveniently removed and stored using a Solar Pool Cover Reel System. These are available for both aboveground and inground pools in 8 mil or 12 mil thicknesses.
